"..The collection featured all of the usual sartorial touchstones present in the Japanese designer’s adidas-collaborated imprint: monochromatic color schemes, billowing silhouettes and sport-luxe fabrics. Inspired by Yamamoto’s fascination with ”air between the body” (according to the press notes), the collection’s ultra-sleek airiness was achieved via crosscutting tech-forward fabrics such as GORE-TEX®, light nylon, engineered patchwork mesh, tech cotton, Adizero and elastane, permitting reversible wear and compact storage. Furthermore, SS19 introduced a new take on Y-3’s signature logo by incorporating humorous (in Yamamoto’s language) skull and heart motifs."
The KASABARU is a study in contrast: lightweight nylon uppers against resilient Japanese rubber. A breakthrough in comfort and fit. Available in both white and black.
The YOHJI LOVE HOODY juxtaposes its minimalist aesthetic with a bold, contrast Y-3 graphic. Ribbed details add to the sport-inspired look.
The PARACHUTE SUSPENDER SKIRT draws inspiration from the lightness and lift of sailing and parachuting.
The BUNGEE BACKPACK is crafted of smooth, high-tech nylon. Draped sailing cord details lead to zips that reveal hidden pockets, and a chest strap completes the sport-driven look. Available in both white and black.
“When I’m walking in the street and I look around the city, ordinary fashion has become so boring; sporty fashion has become so fashionable. This gets my motivation up.”
- Yohji Yamamoto
